The second Sandy Gall dinner was held on Saturday 4th October 2008 at South Pool Village Hall.
Another ‘sell out’ occasion with a waiting list for possible cancellations sixty people enjoyed an Afghan themed dinner prepared by Spice Bazaar from Dartmouth who generously sponsored the meal.
The wine offered during the evening was donated by Avery’s Wine Merchants to whom I am extremely grateful, the glasses loaned at short notice by the Cricket Inn at Beesands, thank you to Nigel Heath.
Sandy gave the first talk after dinner coving the work of his charity and his views on the present situation in Afghanistan.
I followed with a forty minute talk similar but with different photographs to the one given at Gidleigh Park on my findings in Afghanistan which included the security situation in Kabul, the tragedy of Bamiyan, the disgraceful land mining of the country by the Russians and Taliban and its effect on the Afghans and then the work of Sandy’s charity.
The evening concluded with the raffle draw and an auction, an evening that ran well over but was enjoyed by everyone.
My thanks also go to the generous support and sponsorship from the Soar Mill Cove Hotel and NatWest
